Steve and Joe help kids find ‘Blue’s Clues’ at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Hospitals can be scary places for children, but two special visitors, who many know from their time on the children’s TV show “Blue’s Clues,” stopped by the hospital Friday to bring presents and positivity to patients at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

The Fanboy Expo brought many big names to Knoxville this weekend, but the Starlight Children’s Foundation also helped bring two faces many remember from “Blue’s Clues,” that were in town for the convention to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital.

Steve Burns and Donovan Patton, who went by “Joe” on the show, spoke with 6 News before delivering some presents from the Starlight Foundation to hematology and oncology patients. After a “Blue’s Clues” themed party, they led the children on a search for clues around the hospital, stopping after clues were found as they and the children drew the clues in their Handy Dandy Notebooks.

“It feels awesome to give presents to kids. Yeah I’ve got to say, I’ve met like one million people and all of the best people I’ve ever met have been like four years old,” Burns said.

Both shared that it is surreal and impactful to them the impact they’ve made on children’s lives through the show. Rather than focusing on the big picture and the super grandiose feeling that came come with that, Joe explained that they think of it as a “really good friendship” and focus on doing things, like visiting the hospital and delivering gifts for the Starlight Foundation…
