KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The City of Knoxville is asking the public for more details on answers submitted during the initial survey to help create the Play Knoxville parks and recreation master plan.
Earlier this year, the city of Knoxville began collecting information on what improvements residents would like to see for the nearly 100 parks and 125 miles of paved greenways and trails around town. Through a 10-month process, the city is working to evaluate the parks and recreation department and determine what projects and services they should prioritize over the next decade.

During the first survey, the city of Knoxville learned that one of the top concerns preventing people from visiting parks, recreation facilities and amenities was that they did not feel safe doing so. The follow-up survey asks why people feel unsafe, locations where people feel unsafe visiting and what changes might make them feel safer.
The initial survey also helped the city learn that residents are interested in having new programs and more programs around the city. In the latest survey, the city provided a variety of classes, programs, and events that the public might be interested in, but survey takers can also fill in other programs or events that city leaders may not have thought to include…
