Woman and dog rescued from North Knoxville house fire, cause under investigation

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A woman was rescued and taken to the hospital after a house fire in North Knoxville.

The Knoxville Fire Department responded to the fire on Fremont Place around 3:15 p.m. on Monday, July 21, after a 911 call from a woman who said her house was on fire. The woman also told 911 that she was exiting the home.

KFD said firefighters could see the fire on the second floor of the home from the front windows. To extinguish the fire, crews had to go in through a second-floor window due to the “heavy contents of the house.”

Once they reached the fire, KFD said it was put out quickly. KFD added that a woman and her dog were rescued from the home. The woman was taken to the hospital, and the American Red Cross is assisting.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Knoxville Fire Investigators. KFD added that the home did not have working smoke alarms and sustained heavy fire, smoke, and water damage.
