Truck of missing Knox County man found, body to be ID’ed

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The truck of a Knox County man who was reported missing last week has been located with a body inside. The remains could not be positively identified at the scene and have been sent for an autopsy.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for 65-year-old Keith Conley on July 15. He had last been seen around 5 a.m. on July 11 when he left South Knox County heading to Solway for work and never arrived at his destination.

Investigators had asked the public to report any sightings of Conley’s truck, a white 2003 Ford Ranger with a distinctive blue toolbox in the truck bed. Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler announced that the truck was found crashed near Alcoa Highway and Topside Road around 5 p.m. on Monday.

Due to extenuating circumstances, the body found inside the truck could not be identified at the scene. The Alcoa Police Department will lead the investigation into the crash. An autopsy will be conducted to identify the occupant and determine the cause of the death.
