OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — A high-speed pursuit involving Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies, Oak Ridge Police, and Oliver Springs Police ended in a dramatic crash late Wednesday morning at one of Oak Ridge’s busiest intersections.
The suspect, identified as Da’Quan Soles, crashed near the intersection of Lafayette Drive and Illinois Avenue around 11 a.m., after reportedly striking two separate vehicles during the chase. Authorities say Soles’ vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest near the intersection.
Captain Shain Vowell of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies were involved in the pursuit, and that the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) is handling the crash investigation. The first collision occurred near the Walmart on Illinois Avenue, followed by a second crash that caused Soles’ vehicle to overturn.
Oak Ridge Police and Oliver Springs Police assisted in the pursuit. Oliver Springs Police Chief David Laxton told reporters that only one person — Soles — was inside the vehicle when it crashed.
