Anderson County Neighbors share hopes for ‘Rails to Trails’ line

ROCKY TOP, Tenn. — With recent talks of a potential “Rails to Trails” project across Scott, Campbell and Anderson counties, some neighbors in those areas are getting their hopes up.

“I would absolutely use it. I am the type of person who needs to talk myself into walking and if there’s somewhere nearby for me to do it, I’m more apt to do it.” said Jesse Dymond, a business owner and resident of Anderson County, “These rail lines have been not used for however many, I don’t even know however many years now. And, what good are they doing just sitting there growing weeds and just rotting in the ground when they can actually be used for the benefit of the community?”

The Oneida Line is a 41-mile rail line that stretches from Oneida in Scott County through Campbell County into Moore’s Camp in Anderson County, just outside Briceville…
