Retired Knoxville police officer Norman Rickman, who survived 2 on-duty shootings, dies at 62

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Norman Rickman, a retired Knoxville police officer who survived two separate on-duty shootings during his career that spanned over 20 years, has died. He was 62 years old.

Rickman died Saturday, July 26 at his Knoxville home surrounded by his loved ones, according to his obituary. The Knoxville Police Department shared a statement mourning Rickman’s death on Monday.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of retired KPD Officer Norman Rickman. Norman, a Desert Storm veteran, faithfully served our department and community for over 20 years. Words cannot express our gratitude to Officer Rickman. He will be deeply missed.
