Knoxville and Maryville churches provide cooling centers in extreme heat

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Vestal United Methodist Church in Knoxville and New Providence Presbyterian Church in Maryville are opening cooling stations.

The Maryville cooling center is scheduled to be open until 6 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. United Way Blount County Cooling will be providing water donated by local organizations and companies. It is located at 703 W Broadway Avenue, across from Maryville High School.

People can also cool down at the Blount County Public Library open from Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
