Local business owners see the positives of development on Cumberland Avenue

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Cumberland Avenue has gone through many changes over the years, and that transformation is continuing. The street was once a local business destination; now it’s a housing-centric area for University of Tennessee students.

Two of the remaining locally-owned businesses said ongoing development has led to some challenges, such as parking and traffic. The owners said that with business slow during the summer, they’re seeing the positives of having more student housing in the area.
