Man convicted of shooting, beating ex-girlfriend in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A man was convicted of attempted first-degree murder among other charges, District Attorney Charme Allen announced.

After a two-day trial, a jury found Jevess Deron Craigmire, 28, guilty of shooting his ex-girlfriend in April 2024 on Dandridge Avenue, Allen said. He was also convicted of:

  • Especially aggravated robbery
  • Carjacking
  • Unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted violent felon
  • Employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony

According to Allen, Craigmire had recently moved out after his relationship with his girlfriend ended. One morning, when she came home, she found Craigmire was waiting for her with a handgun, Allen said. Craigmire fired sixteen rounds at her, hitting her several times, then “pistol-whipped” her as she tried to crawl under a vehicle, Allen said. He then stole her car.
