Maryville City Council signs onto $7.4 billion Purdue lawsuit

Maryville may soon enter into another six settlement lawsuits against nationwide Opioid drug manufacturers and distributors following an approved amendment Tuesday night to Tennessee’s State-Subdivision Opioid Abatement Agreement.

The amendment, which was presented to Maryville City Council members along with five other agenda items including two related to parking, one budgetary amendment, one special event permit and a routine surplus declaration, is the sixth such amendment to come before state and municipal leaders related to the nationwide Purdue Pharmaceuticals and Sackler family bankruptcy and settlement plans.

Other defendants against whom pending litigation may entitle Maryville to compensation listed in Tuesday night’s agenda notes include the Allergan Public Global Opioid Settlement Agreement, the CVS Settlement Agreement, the Teva Global Opioid Settlement Agreement, the Walgreens Settlement Agreement, the Kroger Settlement Agreement and the Walmart Settlement Agreement…
