21-year-old firefighter dies after Oliver Springs crash

OLIVER SPRINGS, Tenn. (WATE) — A 21-year-old firefighter was killed in a Roane County crash, according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

According to the THP preliminary report, the crash took place around 5:26 a.m. on July 31. Bryson Trentham was turning left onto Blair Road from Old Harriman Highway when his 2025 Ram 1500 was hit by a vehicle going north. Trentham died on August 4 due to injuries sustained during the crash.

Trentham was a firefighter with the Blair Volunteer Fire Department. In the days before his passing, the department urged people to donate blood to support him and to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers.

“He fought a hard fight and we will miss him beyond words. Please remember his family and us in your prayers. There are not enough words to thank each person that has prayed or given blood for Bryson during this time, the Prayers have been felt,” wrote the department on Facebook.

The department is holding a blood drive in honor of Trentham on August 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the BVFD Station 1 at 1911 Old Harriman Hwy in Oliver Springs.
