KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Bar Association and Legal Aid of East Tennessee are enlisting veterans who may need legal advice for free. The legal advice clinic is from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, at the Knox County Public Defender’s law office building.
Veterans of East Tennessee will be welcome to the free legal advice clinic at the Public Defenders’ office in Knoxville. The community room will be busy with attorneys providing free legal advice to veterans seeking assistance for both criminal and civil issues.

“We’ve had a little bit of everything come through the doors. If it is a landlord-tenant issue, you can come in and learn more about your rights. If you have questions about a contract you signed or a contract you want to sign, come in and bring it with you so we can look at it,” said Clint Wren, Legal Aid, Pro Bono Attorney. “Bankruptcy, debt relief, consumer debt.”
The process is easy. Attorneys from Legal Aid of East Tennessee, from the young lawyers division of the Knoxville Bar Association, as well as law students from UT and Duncan School of Law, will provide advice.
“You can tell people are coming early, they are staying all the way until the end. Everybody is getting help. When I was a law clerk, I helped with this clinic. It was truly one of my favorite things; it is so rewarding. You can tell everybody leaves feeling a little bit better about their situation,” said Emily Cala with Legal Aid…
