Maryville receives 23-acre donation for new public park and conservation

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A new public park is coming to Blount County after 23 acres of land were donated to the City of Maryville and the Foothills Land Conservancy.

“Billy Minser Park” will be located along U.S. 321. When complete, it will feature hiking and walking trails along a scenic creek corridor that includes forests and open fields. More details about park amenities and the development timeline will be shared in the coming months.

Land was donated by the late Catherine Gilreath to create a space for public enjoyment and environmental education. It was named in honor of William “Billy” Minser, a beloved conservationist and longtime Foothills Land Conservancy board member…
