OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Oak Ridge Electric customers may notice their bills getting more expensive this fall.
Beginning in October, the City of Oak Ridge Electric Department will be implementing a 2.75% rate increase, which they say will help them keep pace with rising service and infrastructure costs. While the rates will begin in early October, customers will notice the new rates reflected in their bills in late October or early November.

“As we continue investing in reliable service and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our community, these small adjustments are sometimes necessary,” said CORED Interim Director Keith Atkins. “We remain committed to keeping rates affordable while ensuring the strength and reliability of Oak Ridge’s electric system.”
For average residential customers, the increase is expected to increase bills approximately $3.50 per month, Oak Ridge Utility Business Office Manager DeDe Wolfe said.
