Knoxville officer resigns after being cited for shoplifting kratom on duty, KPD says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knoxville police officer cited for theft resigned months after being caught on video shoplifting while on duty, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

A spokesperson for KPD said Tyler Wheeler, 32, resigned from his position before he was supposed to meet with Chief Paul Noel on Friday morning for a pre-disciplinary hearing.
