Firefighters, deputies rescue calf from sink hole in New Market

NEW MARKET, Tenn. (WATE) — New Market Firefighters and Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an unusual call Saturday morning after a calf fell into a sink hole.

New Market Fire Chief Sammy Solomon shared that the firefighters and deputies were dispatched to an area along Friends Station Road in New Market to rescue the calf around 7:39 a.m.

The calf was trapped in a sinkhole that measured approximately 8-feet-wide and 8-feet-deep. Photos from the scene show firefighters and deputies working around the sinkhole and using a rope to rescue the calf.
