In an effort to enhance the de-escalation skills and negotiation tactics of law enforcement personnel across the region, the Knoxville Police Department’s Crisis Negotiators Unit held a specialized training session. The event, which was hosted at the KPD Training Academy on Thursday, brought together a diverse group of officers keen on refining their abilities to peacefully resolve high-stress situations.
A post from the Knoxville PD’s official Facebook page let the public know that the comprehensive training included a total of, 41 officers representing nine different regional agencies. The program featured classroom learning and simulated real-world scenarios, all geared toward the critical work of crisis negotiation.
