Two arrested after fentanyl, mushrooms found in search of West Knoxville home

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people are facing charges after an investigation into two different overdose deaths led investigators to discover fentanyl and psilocybin mushrooms while serving a search warrant at a West Knoxville home.

According to Knoxville Police, William Aldridge, 46, and Brandon Bayne, 36, were arrested and charged with maintaining a dwelling for drug purposes, schedule I drugs, convicted felon in possession of a weapon, tampering with evidence and felony theft.

On Wednesday, Knoxville Police Officers, with the assistance of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the 5th Judicial Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at a home in the 7300 block of Toxaway Drive.

Court records state that officers reportedly found Aldridge and Bayne in the bathroom of the home, and it appeared they were attempting to flush a quantity of powder that tested positive for fentanyl and a bag of suspected psilocybin mushrooms. Knoxville Police said officers seized nearly 65 grams of suspected fentanyl and more than 35 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms…
