East TN first responders honor fallen heroes at Knoxville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — First responders in East Tennessee climbed the stairs of Covenant Health Park for the Knoxville 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. This was the first-ever climb at the new downtown Smokies stadium.

“It’s to remember and it’s to help educate, especially some of the younger generations coming up,” Brad Elliott, Captain of the Knoxville Fire Department said. “ROTC kids that are here weren’t born yet on 9/11, so just bringing the fire service together to remember what happened that day and the sacrifices made is important because that’s what we took the job for.”
