$1 million bond set for Knoxville man charged in 3-month-old son’s death

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville man charged with first-degree murder in the death of his three-month-old son appeared in court on Monday.

Adrien Dokes, 18, has been charged with first-degree murder in the perpetration of aggravated child abuse and his bond has been set at $1 million.

Officers responded to an apartment on Forestal Drive on Sept. 11 after receiving a report of an unresponsive infant. Officers noted injuries around the jawline of the three-month-old boy. The child died at the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital just after midnight on Sept. 12.

Dokes was taken to the public safety complex. Police said during in an interview that he admitted to squeezing the baby around the neck and chin area in frustration, court documents show. He also told investigators that he pushed down hard on the baby’s abdomen, according to police.
