One person dead following vehicle crash in Tennessee

TENNESSEE — A woman was killed early Saturday morning after crashing head-on into a semi-truck while driving the wrong way on Alcoa Highway, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Officers said the crash happened just before 4 a.m. when the woman, driving a Hyundai sedan, was traveling south in the northbound lanes and struck the semi-truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision shut down the northbound lanes of Alcoa Highway for several hours. Tennessee Department of Transportation officials said both lanes were reopened by 10 a.m…
