Killer in 1995 Knoxville Job Corps case up for first parole hearing next week

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The man sent to prison nearly 30 years ago for helping Christa Gail Pike torture and murder a Knoxville Job Corps student faces his first parole hearing next week.

Tadaryl Shipp, 47, has been in custody, whether in jail or prison, since January 1995. A Knox County jury convicted him in 1997 of first-degree murder, giving him the chance one day at parole.

Shipp’s hearing is set for Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville, in far West Tennessee. It’ll be part of a broader parole docket for inmates, said parole board spokesman Dustin Krugel…
