KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Zoo Knoxville announced the names of its two male red panda cubs on Monday.
Their names are Dr. Wallace and Mr. Darcy.
Dr. Wallace is named in honor of Dr. Steven Wallace, a professor at East Tennessee State University and curator of the Gray Fossil Site and Museum. Wallace serves as the site director of the Gray Fossil Site in Washington County. The Early Pliocene deposit dates back to between 4.5 and 4.9 million years old and one of the notable discoveries there was two nearly complete skeletons of giant red pandas…
