Oak Ridge man charged with attempted murder, one in critical condition

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — An Oak Ridge man faces charges of attempted first-degree murder as a person remains in critical condition, police said.

The Oak Ridge Police Department responded to a reported assault in the area of East Newkirk Lane just after 4 p.m. Friday, police said. When they arrived, the officers found a victim with “life-threatening injuries,” a spokesperson said. The victim was taken to a hospital and remains in critical condition, ORPD said Saturday evening.

Oak Ridge’s ‘Lady in the Lake’ a step closer to being identified

After investigating, ORPD said it identified Jacob Paul Yugo, 34, of Oak Ridge, as a potential suspect. He was taken into custody and is being held at the Anderson County Detention Facility. He faces the following charges:

  • Attempted first-degree murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Tampering with evidence
