Proposed Knoxville greenway could connect Fort Sanders and Tyson Park

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — In a few years, Knoxville may have a new bicycle greenway connecting the Fort Sanders neighborhood with Tyson Park.

Tuesday afternoon, the Knoxville City Council is scheduled to discuss a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with CDM Smith, Inc. This agreement would have the company provide design services for the proposed greenway at a cost not exceeding $980,770. Eighty percent of this money would come from federal funds, with the remaining 20% being local.

The greenway would have a shared-use path for bicycles and pedestrians and include a tunnel under the CSX railroad tracks near Clinch Avenue and Metron Center Way, the resolution said.
