18-year-old charged after car crashes into house in Powell

POWELL, Tenn. (WATE) — A man faces multiple charges after a car crashed into a house in Powell on Monday night, court records said. Now, a general sessions docket has revealed new details on the incident.

According to court records, Jayden Michael Ingersoll, 18, was driving east on Meredith Road at about 100 miles per hour, despite the speed limit being 30. He allegedly told law enforcement that he often drives this route at high speeds.

Court records said that Ingersoll’s passengers pleaded for him to slow down, but he disregarded them. The car then left the road, clipped a tree and struck the residence with its speedometer stuck at 60 miles per hour, court records said.

Ingersoll faces charges including:

  • Two counts of aggravated assault
  • Reckless endangerment – vehicle/felony
  • Vandalism – $60,000-250,000

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 20.
