From Paris to Knoxville: Clarence Massamba adjusts to life in U.S. one meal at a time

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WMMB) — Tennessee freshman guard Clarence Massamba, born and raised in Paris, France, is settling into his new home on Rocky Top, though he admits he’s still learning his way around.

“The welcome here was good, first of all, because everybody on the team is doing a great job,” Massamba said. “I still don’t know much about the city. I’m still exploring and trying to find my spots.”

Like many international student-athletes, Massamba has faced a number of adjustments since arriving from France. At the top of that list: American food.

“Definitely the food,” he said with a laugh. “It’s different here. I don’t think it tastes as good as it does in France. But I’m eating way more. They’re making me eat all the time, so it’s definitely different, but a good different. I’ve gotten bigger since I got here.”…
