KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Fire crews responded to a tractor-trailer crash along I-40 in Knoxville that sparked a fire and caused major traffic disruption Wednesday evening.
The crash was reported off of I-40 E between N Campbell Station Road and Lovell Road around 6:30 p.m. A Rural Metro Fire spokesperson said a tractor-trailer lost control and went off the roadway and into woods where it caught fire.
Crews found the driver uninjured and were able to extinguish the fire before it spread further into the woods. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital due to heat exhaustion.
