KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A new full-service coffee shop is helping fuel teachers at Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy while giving young adults with disabilities a chance to gain real-world work experience as they also build confidence and independence.
On Wednesday, the school announced the opening of “The Greene Bean,” which is run by the Project SEARCH program. The coffee shop offers hot and iced drinks, ranging from $1 cups of fresh brewed coffee to hot and iced specialty drinks, like white chocolate mochas and sugar free vanilla lattes, that cost up to $3.

Teachers and staff at the Pre-K to fifth grade school can order their drinks and have them delivered throughout the school day or order in person. The coffee shop is also open to school visitors.
“The coffee shop, and funding support for our Project SEARCH program was provided through a large grant from The Lawson Family Foundation. We would also like to thank KCS Facilities, Randy Burleson/Aubrey’s Restaurants, and Food City for their recent donations as well,” Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy wrote on social media.
