CLINTON, Tenn. – Following an investigation into an allegation of rape made against an Oak Ridge Police Department officer, authorities say the accuser has now been arrested and charged with filing a false report.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, 49-year-old Rebecca N. Bowman was taken into custody after investigators determined that her allegations were unfounded. Filing a false report is a Class D felony.
After the complaint was filed, the Oak Ridge Police Department contacted District Attorney General Dave Clark, who, in consultation with ORPD Chief Robin Smith and Sheriff Russell Barker, assigned the investigation to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office to avoid any potential conflict of interest…
