‘Nowhere to go’: Knoxville shelters near capacity as cold weather sets in

KNOX, Tenn. (WATE) — As temperatures dip, Knoxville’s housing crisis is pushing more families to seek help from local shelters that officials say are already near capacity.

At the Salvation Army shelter, Lacey Davison said finding a stable place to live has become a daily struggle for her family.

“The hardest part is navigating the rent cafe website. A lot of times, we get locked out. We can’t check our account, we don’t know what number we are. We rarely get any callbacks or confirmations. It’s just really hard to find any kind of affordable housing in the city,” Davison said…
