From wagging tails to warm smiles | Tails on Trails returns to help raise money for families who can’t afford vet bills

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tails on Trails – Hike to Save Pets event returned to Baker Creek Preserve in South Knoxville. The event raises money to help local pet parents struggling with emergency vet bills through the Nomar and Mia Compassion Fund.

“I started Tails on Trails as a way to honor my two cats that passed away,” Scott Colby, the event’s founder, said. “I was going through a lot of grieving, and I wanted to do something that would help me through my grief and help me honor Nomar and Mia.”

Colby did exactly that. He reached out to the University of Tennessee Veterinary social work team, which led to a collaboration with the UT Veterinary Medical Center (UTCVM). Money from his Nomar and Mia Compassion Fund is now used for medical treatment…
