Knoxville family waiting to hear from family members in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa hits the country

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A family in Knoxville has been following the reports out of Jamaica closely. They have family still in the country and communication has stopped as the Hurricane Melissa got to its worst.

Tiekel Finnikin and his mom held their phones close on Wednesday, watching videos from their home country of Jamaica and hoped the phone would ring to hear from family members.

“Worried about my sister with her two kids because they’re there by themselves, and that’s where most of the issue is because both of them, we haven’t heard anything back,” Finnikin said. “I mean, one is 19 and the other one is 17 years old, so both of them, right now we haven’t heard anything from them.”…
