KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The funeral services for Knoxville Police Lieutenant Gordon Gwathney, who died Sunday while on a hunting trip after serving with the department for nearly 30 years, have been announced.
Knoxville Police released the service times Friday afternoon. According to the department, the community is invited to pay their respects during a public viewing on November 3 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Atchley Funeral Home, located at 122 Peacock Ct. in Seymour. Gwathney’s family will not be present during the viewing.

From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on November 3, the public is also invited to attend the receiving of friends at Seymour Baptist Church, which is located at 11621 Chapman Highway in Seymour. Gwathney’s funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m.
On November 4, at approximately noon, Knoxville Police motor officers will lead a procession from Atchley Funeral Home up Chapman Highway, onto Gov. John Sevier Highway and into the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery…
