KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Residents of the Vestal community in South Knoxville should expect a knock at the door Wednesday morning.
City of Knoxville employees plan to go door-to-door on November 12 talking to residents about neighborhood resources and how to comply with city codes, city officials said.

The city officials explained that they are looking to have productive conversations, not enforcement. For those who have code violations, the workers will not be issuing citations. Instead, they will tell property owners how to correct the violations, giving them a grace period. The employees will also explain the resources that are available to help them.
“We want people to know that we’re a resource,” Public Service Director Rachel Butzler said. “This is proactive and educational. It’s a two-way conversation, an opportunity to ask questions face to face, rather than someone just getting a form letter in the mail.”…
