On November 7, 2025, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, dedicated the Jenny Boyd Theatre. The new performance venue is located on the former site of the Carousel Theatre. University leaders, community members, faculty, staff, alumni, and students attended the event. The theatre will host its first two productions in spring 2026.
The change from the Carousel Theatre to the Jenny Boyd Theatre was funded by a donation from the Boyd family. Jenny Boyd is a UT alumna and chair of the Tennessee Arts Commission. She has supported the arts in Knoxville for many years. Boyd spoke about her experiences at UT and said she is grateful for the new facility. She noted its potential to support theatre education and community involvement.
