KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Brian Bivens, the interim director of the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Facility, has resigned. Knox County Commissioner and board of directors member Larsen Jay confirmed the news Monday.
Bivens was appointed the temporary director in July by Mayor Glenn Jacobs. The former Knox County Sheriff’s Office assistant chief had previously overseen operations at the county’s jail and was put in charge of the Bean Center as part of an overarching plan to transition control of it to the sheriff’s office, slated to begin in earnest next year.
