Longtime WVLT sports director Rick Russo is receiving an outpouring of support from friends and viewers after sharing a health update. His kidney cancer has returned after more than decade of being cancer-free.
“For the second time in my life I have kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma),” Russo wrote on Facebook on Nov. 10. “The size of the tumor has made it too difficult to save the kidney. I am having surgery, the complete kidney extracted.”
Russo is scheduled to have his left kidney removed Nov. 13, according to the post. He will go on dialysis immediately and work toward receiving a kidney transplant…
