MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Following the tragic crash of a UPS MD-11 cargo plane in Louisville on November 4, which resulted in 14 fatalities, FedEx has announced the grounding of its entire MD-11 fleet.
The decision by FedEx comes ahead of a federal aviation order issued on Saturday, which mandates that all McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft be grounded for further inspection. This reinforces the cargo carriers’ own decisions to halt operations for this aircraft type.
