Drive-thru pantry helps Knoxville families with diapers and food as SNAP delays continue

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Even with the government shutdown lifted, many Knoxville families say they are still waiting for their full SNAP benefits to return. Rising food costs and USDA cuts have added to the strain, pushing more people to look for help ahead of the holidays.

On Saturday, Transformation Church hosted a drive-thru pantry and diaper distribution run by The Generous House Knoxville. Organizers say demand has been high for weeks, and many families are relying on emergency boxes to get through.

Erin Gray, director of The Generous House, said the drive-thru is designed to move quickly while still giving families enough support to last several days.

“On average, it takes folks about 18 minutes to go through the line. We open up registration online so people can pick a time slot making sure that it’s convenient for their day.” Gray said…
