KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Emails obtained by 6 News show strife between the Knox County mayor’s office and Brian Bivens prior to his resignation as the interim director of Knox County’s juvenile detention center.
Emails between Bivens and county officials in the two weeks prior to his resignation show ongoing friction, including over lack of financial support to fix longstanding issues at the facility.
“I have not received ONE cent to fix 52 years of mismanagement,” Bivens said in an email to Knox County Chief of Staff Dwight Van de Vate on November 7. Bivens goes on to say that if he does not have the mayor’s that he would resign by the 13th. He ultimately resigned in an email sent on November 9…
