Delays expected on Maynardville Highway as widening project continues

MAYNARDVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Traffic is shifting on Maynardville Highway (State Route 33) in Union County Tuesday morning.

The shift will take place from near Raccoon Valley Road to near Butcher Lane, with the impact to traffic expected to begin between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the contractor is preparing for most of the work for the shift without impacting traffic.

Traffic will be stopped to allow the tie-ins on either end to be striped. Once this is complete, TDOT says traffic will no longer be impacted. The work is expected to take between 30 and 45 minutes. TDOT added that work will temporarily stop, allowing traffic to continue through the work zone.
