Knoxville church food pantry sees surge in food demand since Nov. 1

KNOXVILLE, Tenn — Members of a Knoxville Church are helping people who struggle to buy food.

Every Tuesday afternoon, the Overcoming Believers Church hosts a food pantry, and members told WBIR that they have seen crowds grow from about 60 people to more than 300 people since Nov. 1.

“We have seen an increase in people coming,” church member Peggy Evans said. “Each week has been more and more registering to get the food, so it’s needed in the community.”…
