East Tennessee economy outpaces national average, UT professor says

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The U.S. added 119,000 jobs in September, and nearly half of them are in health and human services.

“You have to be passionate about it. It’s not just a job. It’s not like just going and working in a restaurant. You are in someone’s home,” says Jessica Popek.

Popek works for a care provider in East Tennessee, helping older Americans. Popek said it takes everything.
