KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Over 2,000 union workers at 95 Starbucks locations nationwide are on strike over unfair labor practice charges filed with the National Labor Relations Board, including ten workers in Alcoa.
“We care about our customers. We have a lot of regulars who we love and appreciate and we actually really enjoy our job. We just want better working conditions and pay,” said Samuel Markham, a Starbucks shift supervisor and worker on strike.
The company has been accused of violating federal labor law and has been repeatedly reprimanded by federal agencies.

In a September decision, a National Labor Relations Board Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) wrote in a decision that Starbucks “engaged in a scorched earth campaign and pattern of misconduct in response to union organizing at its stores across the United States…I take notice that despite several Board orders and dozens of ALJ decisions, Respondent’s behavior continues unabated.”…
