Shoppers line up at Tanger Outlets in Sevierville for Black Friday shopping

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The day after Thanksgiving is well known as Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year, and a major boost for businesses across East Tennessee. 6 News was out at Tanger Outlets bright and early, talking with shoppers to learn why they brave the crowds and what deals they’re chasing this year.

Black Friday marks the official start of the Christmas shopping season and for many families, it’s a tradition. At the Tanger outlets in Sevierville, parking lots filled up fast, and lines were forming.

“We get here at 5:45 in the morning and we get here as soon as the doors open. It’s insane. There’s a ton of people here and that’s why we got here early. So, we can beat the traffic, and it’s crazy out here, a lot of people. I’m shopping for my boyfriend. His family, my family. And we went to Palmetto Moon. We went to Aerie, and I got a bunch of things, and I went to Victoria’s Secret and all the stores,” said Raegan Corvette, a shopper from Knoxville.

Shoppers were looking to score deals for themselves and for their gift lists, with many stores offering 50%, 60%, and even 70% off…
