KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department has released its Thanksgiving traffic report for 2025, issuing nearly 300 citations and responding to one fatality.
According to the department, it responded to the following from 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.
- Total citations: 281
- Speeding citations: 67
- Warning citations: 345
- Total Crash investigations: 35
- Crashes with injury: 5
- Fatalities: 1
- DUI arrests: 10
- Motorists assisted: 34

In 2024, the police department said it gave 315 total citations to drivers, along with 404 warning citations. They also gave out 61 speeding citations.
Two arrests were made for driving while intoxicated, and two other people lost their lives to traffic incidents over the Thanksgiving holiday. One of those people was a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 40…
