Gulfport Police Sergeant Charged with DUI in Gatlinburg During FBI Training Trip

A Gulfport, Mississippi Police Department sergeant found himself on the wrong side of the law in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, after being arrested on charges including driving under the influence. Joseph James Prine Jr. was pulled over while driving a cruiser equipped with emergency lights and carrying an open container of alcohol, Gatlinburg Police reported. According to a police report obtained by WVLT News, the incident occurred at approximately 10:22 p.m., with Officer Myers of the Gatlinburg Police Department initiating the stop near Anakeesta.

Body camera footage detailed Prine’s night out, which involved passing cars yielding to his flashing lights, slurred speech, and a failure to perform adequately on sobriety tests. Prine, who was in town for Command Leadership Institute FBI training, was charged with DUI, having a handgun while under the influence, and displaying alcohol. “Upon approach, I observed more emergency lights throughout the vehicle displayed in the 2nd & 3rd row windows,” Myers explained in the statement, as noted in the police report and later reported by WVLT.

The details of Prine’s arrest paint a picture of reckless behavior with a city-owned car.
