‘I would hate to have to sell it’: East TN farmer hopes for relief amidst trade war

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture says farmers in Tennessee are projected to lose $200 million this year, in large part due to the trade war between the U.S. and China.

“On a planted acres basis, we have around three million acres in our state and one and a half of those is dedicated to soybeans. So soybean is our biggest row crop that we produce here in our state – amongst the big ones,” said University of Tennessee assistant professor Charley Martinez.
